The HS Scratch Shield is a high solid, scratch-resistant, non-yellowing, polyurethane-based, high-gloss clear coat that effectively withstands scratches from car wash brushes. Easy to apply and suitable for air or force drying, making it an ideal choice for passenger vehicles.

Details

The HS Scratch Shield, or 8-214 HS Scratch Resistant Clear Coat, is a high solid polyurethane clear coat specifically designed for passenger vehicles as part of the 500 and 900 series. The mixing ratio is 2:1 with MS hardeners (8-140, 8-150, 8-160), and 0-5% thinner can be added if necessary. It is recommended to apply two coats at a thickness of 50-60 µm, with a 5-10 minute flash-off time between layers. The ideal HVLP or LVLP spray gun nozzle size is 1.2-1.4 mm, with a pressure of 2-2.5 bar. When air-dried, it is dust-free in one hour and fully cures in 8-12 hours, while it force-dries in 20-40 minutes at 60°C. Coverage is 10 m²/L at 50 µm dry film thickness.
